Present: Renee Johnson, chair (Third Way Center), Beth Nixon (Savio), Denise Berridge (Family Tree), Katie Mason (CAFCA) and Susannah Carroll (CAFCA)

1st Quarter Training: Methamphetamine training cancelled

    *Katie is working on Joe Sprague workshop possibility. 

2nd Quarter Training: Charlie Appelstein - "Lights, Camera, Action! Youth Care goes to the Movies"

     * May 11th, 2006 - 8:30 check-in, 9 - noon workshop.

      *Location - Ft. Logan Auditorium (with help from Beacon)

      *Lookout is catering, Renee is working out details ($5- 6 per person continental breakfast)

      *$25 per person (CAFCA members), $30 non-members.

      *Audio needs - Katie

 

3rd Quarter Training: Cultural Competency, full day in August

     *Virginia - Humane Association - need to get specifics, most likely Native American overview

      *The Center - Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian issues

      *African American Issues - Denise

      *Denise suggested Scott (Family Tree) do narrating

      *Format - each presentation has approximately 30 to 45 minutes and panel at end for questions, etc.

      *Auditorium?

 

4th Quarter Training: Holiday Triggers - Katie

      *Early November

 

Educational Conference - "Staying on Track" - Friday June 23rd 2006

     *Keynote - Marguerite McCormick - "Secondary Trauma"

     *Bethany

     *Catering by Lookout, continental breakfast, and lunch. Renee checking on choices for lunch menu

     *Flyer going out for save the date and for Awards nomination - Katie

     *Brochure - Beth

     *Presenters - need to decide specifics next meeting, have some good workshops lined up.

 

Other Business: Brainstormed on ways to improve attendance for Training Committee meetings. Looked at CAFCA member agencies and decided to talk with persons we had contacts with.

 

Next Meeting: April 18th - 8:30am to 10am at Third Way Center
