Training Committee Minutes
7/18/06
Present: Renee Johnson, chair (TWC),
Denise Berridge (Family Tree), Beth Nixon (Savio), Carol (Excelsior), Tracy
Thayer (Tennyson Center), Susannah Carrol (CAFCA), Katie Mason (CAFCA), and
Felicia MaHaffie (Mt. St. Vincent Home)
Annual Conference Overview:
- Rough draft of financials
showed a loss.
- 94 attendees of 113 who signed
up.
- Evaluations were mostly
positive. Only negatives were that the chairs were uncomfortable and that
some of the rooms were too small.
- Executive track should be
continued.
- Food was great and well
prepared, the cook at Bethany even was asking about hiring one of the
Lookout boys.
- Some discussion on sponsors
indicated that maybe we need to look at how we promote sponsorships. Need to
look at purpose, what is benefit of having a table. If we had more DHS
workers then maybe would make more sense to educate others. We need to
present the purpose.
- Coffee bar was a plus.
- Talked about pros and cons of
the date of conference, and we all felt it was ok to change if need be.
- Keynote was wonderful. She
even helped out with our missing exec track presenter who had a car accident
at time of conf. She did also offer to work with agencies free of charge,
but since that time it seems she may have had second thoughts. At least the
free part.
- Signs were great.
