Training Committee Minutes
February 7, 2006
1st Quarter Training: Methamphetamine training cancelled
Katie is in touch with Joe Sprague, who has agreed to do a training workshop this quarter
once we get date and place, we will work out refreshments and who is to work it.
2nd Quarter Training: (April through June)
May 11th - Charlie Applestein
Katie will talk with Beacon to check on availability of Ft Logan auditorium.
$800 for 1/2 day - "Lights, Camera, Action" using media to assist with milieu management for staff.
Katie is going to be in touch with Excelsior to check on culinary arts program. We would love to use CAFCA agencies for our catering if possible. If unavailable then Lookout is great.
3rd Quarter Training: (July through September)
Cultural Competence - All day September workshop.
Virginia has agreed to present - American Humane Society
RJ will talk with "The Center" re Gay and Lesbian issues.
All committee members will begin exploring possibilities.
4th Quarter Training: (October through December)
Holiday related issues, during the month of October. Katie will talk with Heidi Hendrix, because she has done something related to Holiday Triggers.
Annual Conference: - June 23, 2006
Place - Bethany (Beth is in touch with about Board Approval)
Time - 8 am to 3pm
Keynote: Marguerite McCormick - "Secondary Trauma" ($200)
8:45 - 10:15 am
We have not gotten a lot of response but it is early to "call for presenters"
We will decide on Theme depending on responses, hopefully at next meeting.
Sponsorships are the same as last year, and Brochure deadline depends on responses.
Catering: Lookout or Excelsior
RJ will also check into Ridgeview.
Awards: We want to keep same categories, and will discuss process and prizes at next meeting. Nominees need to be in by May 15.

Other Business:
RJ will contact some of our committee members that have not attended.
Katie will make up our member list with emails and phone numbers.
We will begin advertising on "State Training" Website as well.
Denise is talking to someone about Substance abuse and their effects.
Erika has submitted her resignation at Beacon. We will miss her, if her career takes her elsewhere.
Next Meeting: March 14th at 8:30 at Third Way Center
