CAFCA Training Committee Minutes

Present: Renee Johnson (Third Way Center) chair, Denise Berridge (Family Tree), Melissa Maile (Catholic Charities), Beth Nixon (Savio), Betty Jantzen (Beacon  Center), Katie Mason (CAFCA), and Susannah Carroll (CAFCA).

Last Quarter Workshop: Holiday Stress and Triggers with Alan Hall.

Wasn’t exactly what we expected. Need references in future.

1^st Quarter Workshop – Of 2007. PIP, “Re-Tooling for the Future” with Joe Sprague.

• January 10 2007 – 9am to 1pm (8:30 check in).
• $25 for Cafca members, $30 for nonmembers – max of 25 people.
• Katie sending out announcements and handling registration.
• Katie is the caterer (what a women!)
• Tennyson Center has graciously agreed to host it and Renee is to work it.

2^nd Quarter Workshop – “Suicide Prevention” with Nicole Sherwood.

• March 23 2007 – 9am to 12 noon (8:30 check in).
• Location – TBA, and again our talented Katie will cater the event.
• Beth and Denise will work it.

Annual Conference: “Staying on Track” – May 11 2007

• Keynote – John Nicoletti, PhD. “The Psychological Trauma of the Direct Care Professional”
• Peg authorized payment of $500 for keynote. Dr. Nicoletti has agreed to do workshop as well.
• Beth is thankfully working on the brochure. She is our artistic committee member.
• Nicole Sherwood has agreed to do workshop on “Runaway Youth”.
• Katie is sending the “Call for Presenters”.
• Renee is contacting Chef Campe for catering possibilities, and will f.u. on coffee bar as well.
• We need a facility with at least 6 rooms, and a place for keynote and awards. Katie is checking out some possibilities, besides Bethany.
• Susannah is collecting Chilis gift certificates, checking out Barnes and Nobles as well as other gift and awards possibilities.
• Discussed next year’s Keynote as well and Suzanne could possibly write a grant for someone such as Bob Danzig ($10,000), possibly cheaper.

Future Workshops:

• Katie is working on “Required Trainings” possibilities. She will bring for next meeting.
• Renee is going to talk with TWC medical director for possible “Pharmacology Workshop” for September.
• Possibility for July workshop regarding “Immigration”, per Peg.
• Dr. Bryon Post – “Beyond Love and Logic – Reactive Attachment Disorder”
• Renee looking into “Gang or Risk Assessment” possibilities.
• “Children of Vets” with Peter Levine.

Next Meeting: - January 16 2007 – 1pm to 2:30, at Third Way Center (1295 York St.)
